Gershon, Kohath, and Merari as LAODICEA

And the sons of Levi; 

Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Genesis 46:11 

 

The Levites, tribes of the priest, 

camped along the sides of the Sanctuary.

These were 3 sub-tribes.

Symbolically, since God's people are compared to a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD (But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 1 Peter 2:9) this would represent the Laodicean Church and it's 3 groups as an end times application.

The Wheat/Tares --Wise/Foolish Virgins Parable Application:

1) The Wheat and Wise Virgins who kept their Lamps Trimmed.

2) The Tares who choke the Word. Those among God's people in Rebellion at every turn today on Doctrine.

3) The Foolish Virgins who fell asleep while awaiting the Bridegroom. They were true believers - but never truly surrendered all to God.

 

And it shall come to pass,

that in all the land, saith the LORD,

two parts therein shall be cut off and die;

but the third shall be left therein.

 

And I will bring the third part through the fire,
and will refine them as silver is refined,
and will try them as gold is tried:
they shall call on My name,
and I will hear them:

I will say,

It is My people:

and they shall say,

The LORD is my God.

Zechariah 13:8,9

 

The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward. And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

Numbers 3:25-26 

 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

Joshua 21:6

The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward. And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

Numbers 3:29-31 

And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities. And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

Joshua 21:4,5

And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward. And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto, And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

Numbers 3:35-37 

 The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
