JUSTIFICATION /SANCTIFICATION
(Outer Court / Inner Court of the Sanctuary)
And Jesus said unto her,
Neither do I condemn thee: (Justification)
go, and sin no more. (Sanctification)
John 8:11
“By justification we are saved from the guilt of sin, and restored to
the favor of God;
by sanctification we are saved from the power and
root of sin, and restored to the image of God.”
John Wesley
"We in Christ equals justification;
Christ in us equals sanctification”.
Martin Luther
"But by repentance and faith we are justified before God, and through divine grace enabled to render obedience to His commandments."
E.G.W.
Picture a Circle.
Inside is the Law of God--Sanctification by Holiness, Obedience.
When we step outside of the Circle it's called "SIN".
He has a remedy--Justification by Grace/Forgiveness.
But He expects you to step back into that Circle--not stand outside abusing His Grace.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:15
Justification
"If you feel yourself to be the greatest sinner,
Christ is just what you need, the greatest Savior.
--Lift up your head and look away from yourself, away from your sin, to the uplifted Savior;
--away from the poisonous, venomous bite of the serpent to the Lamb of God who taketh away the sin of the world."
Ellen White
"Then I grasped that the justice of God is that righteousness by which
through grace and sheer mercy God justifies us through faith. Thereupon I
felt myself to be reborn and to have gone through the open doors into
paradise. The whole of Scripture took on a new meaning."
Martin Luther
Sanctification
"God has given us His commandments, not only to be believed in, but to be obeyed."
Ellen White
"The Perfection I hold is so far from being contrary to the doctrine of
our Church that it is exactly the same which every clergyman prays for.... ‘Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of
thy Holy Spirit, that we may PERFECTLY LOVE THEE, and WORTHILY MAGNIFY
thy holy name.’."
John Wesley
SUMMARY:
"...by beholding we become changed.
The mind gradually adapts itself to the subjects upon which it is
allowed to dwell.
It becomes assimilated to that
which it is accustomed
to love and reverence."
Ellen White
