SABBATH - In Light of the Sanctuary Courts [Beauty in the Symmetry of the Simplicity
of His Word]
JUSTIFICATION (Outer Court)
Resting from your works...to Rest in His work that delivered you from your spiritual "Egypt"...by a stretched out arm--on the Cross
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.....Six days thou shalt labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work,.......
*And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt,
*and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm:
*therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
Deuteronomy 5:12-15
SANCTIFICATION (Inner Court)
Obedience...literally so as to acknowledge Him as Creator and thereby as God
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou
labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work,...
labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work,...
*For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:
*wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exodus 20:8-11
As Paul Explains:
For we which have believed do enter into rest,
as He said,
As I have sworn in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all His works.
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein,
and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, He limiteth a certain day, saying in David,
To day, after so long a time; as it is said,
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;
For he that is entered into his rest,
he also hath ceased from his own works,
as God did from His.
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Hebrews 4:4,5,7,9,10,14 KJV/NIV
